CSIRO

In recognition of the leadership role that Ricoh plays in Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility activities, the CSIRO invited Ricoh to become a foundation member of their Sustainable Communities Initiative (SCI) in 2007.

The objective of the SCI is to improve the social, economic and environmental sustainability of Australian ecosystems or communities in need. Ricoh plans to formally induct the CSIRO as a Green Partner in 2008.

Ricoh is about to commence work with the CSIRO on a project in Castlemaine, Victoria. Reducing greenhouse gases is one aspect of this project and our input will also encompass providing expertise in, office automation to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions, recycling of office waste and educating the community to reduce their environmental footprint and reduce waste to landfill through implementing practical recycling programs.

The CSIRO’s Sustainable Communities Initiative provides Ricoh an opportunity to work together with not only the CSIRO but with government departments and foundation members of the initiative such as Westpac Banking Corporation, Insurance Australia Group, Harvey Norman, GRM International and Delfin Lend Lease to create a more sustainable Australia
