Responsibility to Society

Being a good corporate citizen means operating responsibly and contributing to the success and sustainability of the environment, society and our stakeholders. We believe that to achieve this aim, we have to play our role in the realignment of struggling communities and the education and empowerment of the next generation onto the path of sustainability. 

Our experience to date has shown us that shared learning and hands on participation with communities in need and the next generation provide us with a clear appreciation of the challenges they face. We are then better able to customise our environmental and social contribution initiatives and work collaboratively to achieve a better outcome.

Working in this manner provides a sense of reward, achievement and purpose for the community, our staff and for all others involved. It also creates much better stakeholder buy-in, which in turn builds momentum and ultimately contributes to the health and long term viability of the initiatives.

Our key environmental and social contribution initiatives in this area include our support of:

• Earthkeepers^TM – an earth education programme in local primary schools
• Sunnyfield Association – Ricoh trust assists with development plan for their ‘Integrated Living Program’
• CSIRO Sustainable Communities Initiative – supporting at risk communities across Australia
