Product Stewardship
Ricoh is a leader in the field of product stewardship. We believe that not enough organisations are taking sufficient responsibility for the reduction of adverse environmental impact caused by their products throughout their entire lifecycle.
Our Product Stewardship policy and associated programs take a holistic approach to product stewardship in support of our environmental management vision. The policy covers all Ricoh products, packaging, consumables and the parts used in the servicing of machines. Critically, the policy sets our intention to operate with ‘Zero waste to landfill’ and prevents the exporting of waste offshore.
In response to this policy, all Ricoh sites across Australia have developed aggressive strategies and performance targets to reuse, reduce or recycle waste material associated with product stewardship as well as other trade waste.
Our Toner Cartridge Takeback Program set the benchmark for our industry back in 2001, and our Machine Takeback Program is currently being rolled out nationally.
The success of this program was independently recognised in 2006, when our Canberra Branch was awarded the gold medal in the ACT Government’s No Waste Awards.
