The Customer:  Victorian Institute of Sport

The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) provides around 400 of the state’s best sportspeople with top of the line training facilities, coaching and the latest advances in sports science. The VIS supports individuals achieve success at the highest levels, be it winning an Olympic medal, breaking a world record or claiming an international championship.

The VIS had maintained an environment of Ricoh multifunction devices (MFDs) and printers for its document output needs. As its latest fleet reached end of life, the Institute followed government guidelines – and good business practice – in going to market with a request for tender (RFT) for a new solution.

Challenge: Fast, reliable, easy to use

The VIS was seeking advanced device functionality and features that would help minimise administrative burden on IT staff, and provide a versatile platform upon which to implement new document management solutions in the future. The main focus was on security of confidential information, support, capabilities, speed and proven reliability of any devices supplied.
“As the company has done so in the past, Ricoh presented a solution proposal that clearly met or exceeded every one of our requirements” VIS IT Manager Mark Schnabl said. Ricoh rolled out the new print environment, which consists of three A3 colour Ricoh MFDs and three A4 black-and-white laser printers , all running under Ricoh’s Remote Fleet Management technology.
