The Customer:  Alexandra Hills State High School

Alexandra Hills State High School is one of the largest schools in Brisbane’s Redlands region with over 130 staff and 1,200 students. Reflecting its philosophy that success is the key to learning, the School strives to constantly advance its academic disciplines, facilities and the opportunities provided to students.

Challenge: Eliminate the paper chase

The School’s document management needs had grown beyond the capacity of their current printer fleet, with teachers spending hours each week searching for a working printer or trying to figure out which printer they had sent a document to. Furthermore, the school took delivery of 750 computers, running the latest Microsoft Windows operating system, that were not compatible with the old printers. The school needed an integrated and efficient document management solution that would provide:

  • Reliability
  • A standardised fleet into a single supplier
  • Cost recovery

The solution: Quality, cost and functionality

Ricoh Australia’s local team of education specialists developed a solution for Alexandra Hills State High School that could be rolled out in stages, taking into account the School’s budgetary constraints. The Ricoh solution has significantly improved staff and student document resources, while also reducing waste, costs, complexity and CO2.

Print jobs are automatically sent via a server and can be printed on any networked MFD once authorised by the user, eliminating uncollected printouts and improving information security. The black and white production printer, with its robust 80 pages a minute speed, takes the pressure off the fleet for printing large jobs. Administration can now accurately allocate costs and manage printing budgets within departments and the single point of contact ensures a trusted response to any issues that arise. However, the new solution’s most valuable feature is its reliability, leaving staff more time to get on with their real job of helping students.
